People in India chew the twigs of the Neem tree to clean their teeth. They chew the ends of the Neem tree twigs until the wood fibres lay bare and look like a painter's brush. The brush is then used to remove residual food from the teeth. The chewed twig is discarded after a few uses. Chewing the twigs releases active agents from the twig, which help to prevent gum infections.
